A volunteer Advisory Committee will be established to provide advice and guidance on developing the project’s resources and training initiatives. Membership will comprise a cross-section of individuals with knowledge and understanding of the recreation/physical fitness environment, and/or professional expertise in the mental health sector, and/or lived experience of mental health issues. We are seeking representatives of these groups to sit on the Advisory Committee to ensure that the resources and training curriculum are tailored to the needs of service providers and will enhance accessibility for people with mental health-related disabilities.
We are seeking representatives of these groups to sit on the Advisory Committee to ensure that the project deliverables are tailored to service providers’ needs in enhancing accessibility for people with mental health disabilities. We are seeking to engage between 12 and 15 representatives from organizations across Ontario.
The specific responsibilities of the Advisory Committee will be to:
- provide input to the Steering Committee on the needs of stakeholders
- provide expert feedback on the process and deliverables of the project
- promote the project within their communities
- serve as a conduit to help disseminate the final resources to the appropriate target audiences.
Advisory Committee Member Commitment
Advisory Committee members will be requested to commit to participating in five (5) half-day working sessions over a 14-month period (February 2013 through March 2014), along with several hours of preparation before each session. To ensure continuity in organization participation, each member will be requested to designate one alternate in the event of his/her inability to attend a meeting, such delegate also being able to speak on behalf of the organization.
Meeting Dates and Locations
The first meeting of the Enabling Minds Advisory Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, 9:00 am-12:00 noon, at
Suite 2301, 180 Dundas Street West
Toronto ON M5G 1Z8
Dates for the remaining Advisory Committee meetings will be set at this first meeting. Draft materials for discussion at each session will be provided to Committee members approximately in advance of the meeting to allow sufficient time for review.
Meetings will be held at the downtown Toronto offices of CMHA Ontario. However, we are committed to facilitating representation from across the province through the use of teleconferencing and/or web-based media at no cost to Committee members. All that will be required of participants who cannot attend in person is their time, advice and passion to improve access to recreation and physical activity for those with mental health-related disabilities.
We are seeking to engage between 12 and 15 representatives from organizations across Ontario. If you are interested in working on this important project and would like to be considered for membership on the Advisory Committee, please complete and submit the Advisory Committee Volunteer Form below.
